5/8/16: Book Haul and South Street Seaport

May 9, 2016

This week was a pretty darn good one in my bookish world. I mean, look at all those beautiful books! I was lucky enough to snag copies of Caraval and Heartless from work and you bet your bookshelf I ran out to buy A Court of Mist and Fury as soon as I could. I also attended the launch party for Mindi Scott and Michelle Andreani’s The Way Back To You, which I’m really excited to read. Oh, and I stumbled across the repackaged paperbacks for Lauren Oliver’s Delirium trilogy. I bought the first one, of course, and while my wallet would like to keep the others at the store, I’m sure I’ll head back to buy Pandemonium and Requiem in the near future. A friend gave me Kristen Proby’s Listen to Me, which looks super good and romantic, and it has to do with music, so it’s bound to be a winner. Last, but not least, The May Queen Murders. Look. At. That. Cover. Enough said.

I spent the weekend catching up with friends and exploring the city. I saw the new Cirque du Soleil show, Paramour, on Friday, which was absolutely mesmerizing! It was my first Cirque show and I really want to go back again.

Saturday was spent seeing Mindi Scott and Michelle Andreani at Books of Wonder before heading up to the Upper West Side to catch Captain America: Civil War. Overall, I liked the movie, but left disappointed and a bit annoyed. That said, hooray for seeing more Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Emily VanCamp!

On Sunday, I caught up with another friend and we spent the afternoon wandering around South Street Seaport and the surrounding area. I’d been there before and it’s such a picturesque area. Love it! Here are some photos:

That was my week in books and my weekend in life! How did you spend yours? Reading anything I should know about? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

This is SUCH a late comment, but I just wanted to say you have some lovely photos! Also – CARAVAL! That ARC is beautiful! I have heart eyes for it 😀 And I absolutely adored The Way Back to You. I thought it was a very strong contemporary YA read 🙂
