Hello, lovely readers and writers. Did you know October is National Anti-Bullying Awareness month? Well, now you do!
The fight to put an end to bullying is a cause I strongly believe in. While I was fortunate enough not have been severely bullied in school, I was on the receiving end of behind-my-back whispers and snide comments. Thankfully, I had great friends, supportive family, and teachers who valued me as an individual, so I made it through just fine. But others aren’t as lucky, and this makes me sad.
So, here’s my idea. I want to gather as many authors, book bloggers, readers, teachers, etc…to record It Gets Better-type videos with an (optional) emphasis on how books have helped you overcome insecurities or provided strength/comfort in times of need. Many people turn to books to escape and to find strength, and I think it would be great for readers to be able to see their favorite authors sending positive messages.
If you would like to take part in this, fill out this form and I will email everyone next week with exact details. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to make this project have even more of an impact, let me know in the comments!
