Book Blogger Hop: 7/9-7/12

July 9, 2010

For this week’s Book Blogger Hop, the hoppers are asked to talk about their favorite authors. I have a few favorite authors who all continuously inspire me with their stories, their words, and their ability to make fictional people/worlds real. So, I guess I’ll talk a little bit about the author whose books made me want to be an author–Stephenie Meyer.

I know, I know. A lot of people hate Twilight, but for me, the series means a lot. I’ve said all of this before, but bear with me. 🙂 When I first read Twilight, I was enthralled by the story and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I will admit that Ms. Meyer’s writing may not be “the best”, but I enjoyed her vivid descriptions and the way her words left an impression on me. Twilight inspired me to start writing, to start creating my own worlds and characters who live in my head and on paper. Four manuscripts later, I’m still in love with Twilight and inspired by Ms. Meyer.

Just stopping by via the hop to say hello! I quite enjoyed the Twilight novels when I read them. I must admit, I didn’t enjoy the first movie, haven’t bothered with the rest and am so over the hype.. but I still think of Twilight as a few weeks well spent 🙂

Stopping by from the hop. I agree that Twilight is not the best written book, but she has a way of drawing the reader in and keeping you interested. Have a great weekend!

I definitely agree that Twilight wasn’t the “best written” series, and Meyer’s overuse of chagrin could grate my nerves at times, but these books definitely had a way of keeping you enthralled and thinking about the story even when you weren’t reading. Twilight got my husband into reading again. I don’t think it should matter that it’s not the best written, it entangles you in ways that more scholarly, well written books cannot.

New follower, by the way. LOVE your blog!

Just hopping in from the hop. I know what you mean about Stephenie Meyer. People always ask me what my favorite books are and hers are always in the mix. Her novels drive me to this little place of quiet where all that exists are sparkly vampires and Forks. I don’ know what it is, but they comfort me and calm me and I usually read them when I need to be comforted. I know that sounds a bit odd, but to each his own right?! I’ll be following so I can see whats next!

New follower from the Hop. I love S. Meyers. I have heard many people say that twilight has no plot, but if it doesn’t then why on earth did it ever get published? I agree, she is not amazing or anything, but her stories stick with you and she writes about love in a way that makes you fall in love as well.
I look forward to following your blog. I think you are the only guy whose blog I am following. haha.

I really liked Twilight. I haven’t enjoyed the movies like I did the books though, a little too cheesy:) Now following and looking forward to finding more books in common with you. Shari over at myneuroticbookaffair.blogspot.com
