Review: Forsaken by Keary Taylor

Forsaken by Keary Taylor is the second book in the Fall of Angels series, with Branded being the first. Ms. Taylor was kind enough to send me copies of both and having fallen in love with Branded, I couldn’t wait to dive back into Jessica and Alex’s story with Forsaken. As most of my sequel reviews are, this one will be short to avoid spoiling anything for those who haven’t started this series yet.

Ms. Taylor’s writing continues to be great in this book. Her descriptions are lovely, always evoking the right emotion/image, and the dialogue never seemed awkward. I felt like some of the sentences read awkwardly, but not enough to deter me from the story. What I really love about Ms. Taylor’s writing is that she knows how to write an extremely heartwarming scene and the next one has your heart beating in suspense. There’s a great balance between the action, mystery, and romance.

I have read a lot of angel books, but the Fall of Angels series presents them in a different light, one that is surprising and frightening. Even if you think you can’t read another angel book, try this series because Ms. Taylor has taken a popular creature and made them all her own.

If I had a rating system, I would give this five stars out of five. But since I don’t, I’ll just say I absolutely loved it and I really hope there are more installments. Jessica and Alex have captured my heart and I’m sure readers will fall in love with them too! 🙂
