Fearless by Rachel Vincent: I haven’t read Ms. Vincent’s Soul Screamers series and I wish I had to get a better understanding of mara’s. This story is good and I’m sure fans of the normal series will love it, but as a newbie, I felt a little confused, but overall, I enjoyed it. It did make me want to read the series, so that’s good. 🙂
Vermillion by Daniel Marks: Like the Diana Peterfreund story, I found Vermillion be too confusing to enjoy and even read. I had to re-read the first two pages several times and was still confused. I ended up skimming it and probably won’t go back and try to read it again.
The Hounds of Ulster by Maggie Stiefvater: This short tied into Lament and Ballad, particularly the latter. I liked it, but like Ballad, I didn’t love it. The writing is a little too directed at the reader for my taste, but some people like that format, so I’m sure many will enjoy it.
