TBTB Secret Santa Haul

January 2, 2016

This was my third time participating in the Broke and the Bookish’s Secret Santa exchange and it was just as exciting as the first time! I even managed to submit my application on time this year! Go me!

My recipient ended up being someone I know, so that was a lot of fun! One of the books they requested was Jackson Pearce’s Sisters Red, which is one of my favorite fairy tale retellings and it’s a bit “old”, so I was really excited to gift them a copy. I also threw in a Dumbledore Funko Pop! vinyl figure, which I had prayed they didn’t already have—and they didn’t!

On my end, I was chomping at the bit to receive my package, mostly because I was heading out-of-town for the holiday and was eager to have some new books to entertain me on the plane. But alas, no package was to be had—until I returned! Which ended up being better because my trip ended with some sad news, so my TBTBSanta package was a nice pick-me-up.

Ready to see what I got? Let’s go!

THE DARKEST MINDS by Alexandra Bracken: Tumblr has convinced me that I will adore this book, so I’m super excited to finally be able to dive into this world and get to know the characters everyone seems to love.

BEL CANTO by Ann Patchett: This was a wild card item, so it was an even bigger surprise! This isn’t a book I would normally pick up myself, but it’s about an opera singer, a tragic event, and unexpected connections, so…SIGN ME UP.

HOT GUYS AND BABY ANIMALS 2016 CALENDAR: I don’t really need to say anything about this item because it’s evident that it’s spectacular and everything I ever want in a calendar…and life.

And, last, but not least, they also sent me a bunch of Sour Patch Kids (my go-to movie candy) and Ritter Sport chocolate (which I ate before I took photos. Sorry/not sorry!).

So, who was my Secret Santa? Well, it was none other than Adi Alsaid, the author of Let’s Get Lost and Never Always Sometimes! I’ve known Adi for a couple of years now and he’s such a talented writer and great person in general, so it was fun discovering he was my SS. Thank you, Adi, for all the lovely goodies!

Many, many thanks to Jamie at the Broke and the Bookish for organizing the SS exchange year after year. You are amazing, Jamie. Truly.

I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season and be sure to share your own TBTBSanta goodies in the comments!
