Let’s be honest: last week was a monster that none of us knew how to slay. I’m just going to believe the end of the year craze was the cause and that things will even out soon, haha. But amidst the chaos and stress, I received a surprise package at work on Friday when I needed a pick-me-up the most. Lo and behold, it was my #TBTBSanta package! I started picking through it, but then stopped so I could have the full experience at home, where I could relax in my pajamas with the cats nearby.
Flash-forward a few hours and I’m home, in my sweatpants and an old t-shirt, with one cat dozing on the couch and the other staring at me from his perch on one of the back cushions. I thought about waiting to unwrap everything inside the box closer to Christmas, but then thought better of it because I have zero self-control.
So, without further ado, here’s a look at what I received! Many, many thanks to Katie for the amazing package! And, as always, thank you to the ladies at the Broke and the Bookish for organizing the #TBTBSanta exchange!
The Reader by Traci Chee — I have heard such amazing things about this book and series, and I am so excited to finally dive in and add a new favorite to my shelves.
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao — I received an ARC of this earlier this year, but, sadly, never got around to reading it, but I am so glad to now have the beautiful hardcover edition. I’ll definitely be reading this soon because the buzz surrounding it has been too good to ignore any longer.
Timekeeper by Tara Sim — A queer, steampunk ghost love story? SIGN. ME UP. The Twittersphere is rather obsessed with this book and I can’t wait to fall in love with it. Also, the cover is absolutely gorgeous!
Furyborn by Claire Legrand — This was a total surprise! If you follow me on social media, you know how badly I’ve been wanting to get my hands on an ARC of this, and Katie will forever be a book fairy in my eyes for sending me a copy. Claire is one of my favorite authors and while I’m only three or four chapters in, I’m already obsessed with this book.
Katie sent mini jars of Nutella, which are super cute, along with some other chocolate, including my favorite, Ritter Sport! Also included was Twizzler Sweet & Sour bites, which are my go-to movie candy and I’m trying really, really hard to save them for The Last Jedi. The struggle is real. So. Damn. Real. Katie also sent along some Swiss Miss, which is always a delight.
And on the non-food side of things, she sent a rather cool (and shiny!) zebra card, and Stickets, which are these obnoxiously cute sticky notes in the shape of those classic raffle tickets. These will definitely come in handy when reading manuscripts and ARCs for work!
