Review: The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting

May 8, 2012
If you haven’t started this series by now, stop reading and go pick up the first two books! Kimberly Derting has written a clever, suspenseful, and romantic series and The Last Echo is another thrilling addition.
In The Last Echo, readers will find Violet in the midst of working with her new “team” and getting involved in dangerous cases. Her desire to do some good with her ability is admirable and makes her even more likeable. I really like the transition towards the end where she firmly decides she doesn’t want to be saved anymore, that she wants to be the one to save herself.
The romance takes a bit of a back seat in this installment, but it’s still there and balances well with the non-stop action and suspense. The ending portion of the book is a killer! My heart was pounding and I couldn’t stop turning the pages! Gah!
Ms. Derting’s writing is, as always, great, particularly her fluid action scenes that played out like scenes from a movie in my head. She also succeeds in bringing each member of the team into the spotlight and using them to further advance Violet’s character.
All in all, this is a great installment in an already great series. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Have you read The Body Finder series? If so, what do you think? 🙂
