Weekend Catch-Up: November 7-8, 2015

November 9, 2015

This past weekend I resolved to get back into blogging, so here I am with a recap. A small one, but hey, it’s a start! 🙂

First of all, I had the pleasure of participating in last month’s QUEER ROMANCE MONTH and my post, “The November Song”, was selected as the series closer. You should probably check out my post, but you really need to read all of them. I wasn’t able to leave comments as often as I had hoped, but each post is lovely and insightful. So go forth and catch up!

This weekend was a bit busy, but in a good way. I spent Saturday at BookRiot Live and then celebrated a friend’s birthday by eating delicious Italian food, including gelato!

Sunday was day two of BookRiot Live and I attended the “Give Good Books: How to Buy for Kids” panel, which featured Stacy Whitman (publisher, Tu Books), Alvina Ling (VP and Editor-in-Chief, Little Brown Books for Young Readers), Greg Pak (author), Laurie Halse Anderson (author), and moderated by Cristin Stickles (Children’s and YA buyer, McNally Jackson). It was a great panel with great questions and answers.

Later, I went to the Whitney Museum of American Art for the first time with a friend. The collection was a bit more modern than I usually seek, which isn’t a bad thing at all, and the Frank Stella exhibit was particularly amazing.

In terms of books, I recently acquired a few new gems (pictured at the top of the post). A friend gave me the first three books in Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines series, which I’m super excited about because, hello, Adrian Ivashkov. I’m also really excited to have a copy of Wendy Higgins’s The Great Hunt. I’m a total fanboy for Wendy’s books, as you may know, so hooray! Summer of Supernovas sounds adorable and perfect for my tastes, and then there’s Witches of America, which, if you know me even just a little bit, you’ll know that I’m absolutely stoked to read it.

That was my weekend—how was yours? What are you currently reading?

I am reading the latest Dump Cakes cookbook by Cathy Mitchell. Have you read it or made any dump cakes recently?
