Why, hello there, 53rd Page! It’s Nice to Meet You.

April 14, 2010

I recently reached the 53rd page of my manuscript and I must say, I am extremely proud. I love everything I’ve written so far, but my current work-in-progress is my favorite and I think my best one yet. I continue to learn and grow as a writer and I feel like I’ve finally reached the place where my doubt can’t affect me as much as it has in the past. I haven’t had one of those I-suck-at-writing-and-will-never-be-published kind of moments lately, which is absolutely fantastic.

You know, I always thought writing a novel would be a relatively easy process (Thanks for the delusion, Cheaper by the Dozen!), but it’s not. It’s the hardest thing I’ve done, but it’s one of the most rewarding. I can’t wait to see where my writing takes me and hopefully, it takes me to some pretty cool places. Scholastic Land, maybe? Or the the Forest of Harper Teens? I wouldn’t mind visiting Land’s Atlantic Publishing either. Whatever happens, happens and even if I don’t end up being a published/successful YA author, at least I can say I tried.

I know I posted about sharing a short story on my blog, but it is still unwritten. Things have been going really well with my current manuscript, so all my attention and free time, which is in limited supply, is spent working on that. As soon as I’m done with it, though, I’ll work on the short story. 🙂

Congratulations! I know how it feels to be happy about reaching milestones (and for what it’s worth, I see good things in your future where publication is concerned). Can’t wait for the short story, whenever it appears!
